As a fan of both flash games and Spongebob Squarepants, I was excited to begin playing Spongebob Parkour. Over the years, I have played many different online Kogama games, but never have I seen a game designed in this fashion. This was also my first time playing a game on Silvergames.com, so this was a completely new experience for me. Once the game had loaded, I was immediately thrown into the world of Spongebob Parkour.
You start Spongebob Parkour game as playing as a weirdly blocky character, who is not Spongebob as the title would suggest, and are immediately prompted to capture the flag. The game takes place in a 3D environment and is an MMO game. There were Spongebob posters and pictures scattered in the environment, but none of the environmental elements seemed to have related to Spongebob. The camera was controlled by using the computer mouse, but was a bit wonky and many times slowed down throughout gameplay. In addition, the game itself has a bit of a weird pace with blocky and confusing environmental design. It reminded me a bit of Minecraft, but nowhere near the quality or polish of it.
There is a lack of direction within the environment in Spongebob Parkour, and I found myself dying multiple times just by moving to a new area. The game also seemed to freeze every couple of seconds, even running on a more-than-capable MacBook Air. On a positive note, the game seemed to maintain a connection with other players who had also been playing, and there were quite a few. Perhaps this game has a bit of a following?
Overall, this odd 3D flash game has potential to become a cohesive, fun free flash game but is limited by its weird design choices, bland and blocky character design, and lack of Spongebob-related content. Have fun with Spongebob Parkour!
